The Adam Dabell Annual Memorial Football Match – Thursday 7th October 2010

Many thanks to all of those that were able to attend the match last Thursday. The evening was, once again, extremely well attended, particularly by the young people of the town.
The Sackville v Imberhorne ‘Old Boys’ match kicked off the evening with some very energetic and skilful football. The match was a closely fought contest and ended 0-0 on the final whistle so the honours were shared.

The Sackville v Imberhorne 6th Form Match followed and these young people treated us to 90 mins of excellent football.
The Mayor and Mayoress attended and the Mayor presented the Cup and Trophy to the winning team, Imberhorne, who, in a hard fought game, won 2 – 0.
The goal scorers were: Harvey Weddell and Josh Allard.
Dan Celani of Imberhorne said that both teams were, “A credit to your schools, parents and local community – Well Done”.
Voluntary contribution on the night to CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young – topped up to £300 by the end of the evening. A cheque for that amount, will be sent to CRY in Adam’s (and your) name. It is interesting to note that the 9th-17th of October is CRY Raising Awareness Week.
Please check out their website.

In presenting the Cup to the winners and medals to all players, the Mayor said that there were no losers and that the teams had treated us all to some very fine quality football – Although his daughter, who is now a sixth-former at Sackville, would be a little disappointed with the final result.
Finally, we all look forward to next years fixture where once again it will be a chance for all friends and family to get together and remember Adam.
