The Adam Dabell Annual Memorial Football Match – Thursday 7th October 2007

On the night of Thursday 4th October, East Grinstead Town FC were delighted and proud to host the fourth annual ‘Adam Dabell Memorial Trophy’ match between Sackville and Imberhorne 6th forms.
The trophy and competition was set up by family and friends in memory of Adam Dabell,a former Sackville pupil, who tragically collapsed and died whilst playing with friends in a five-a-side competition, on 10th March 2004 at the age of 26.
A great turn out witnessed Imberhorne win for the first time 1 – 0, in what the referee described as a very hard fought, energetic but good natured game.
The Dabell family would like to thank, once again, Steve Hill, youth sports development officer for East Grinstead, Ali Currie, head of PE at Sackville, Richard Tramontin and East Grinstead Town FC and Adam’s good friends for ensuring such a successful event,”A fitting tribute to Adam’s love of football, friendly competition and community spirit”.

Although there was no Oldboys match this year it is intended that next year we will try to get and Old boys game between Sackville and Imberhorne. So if you were in the same year as Adam (or thereabouts) get your kit ready and we’ll get in contact with you approaching next years event.
